A full day of Empowering Albright Voices panels and activities brings awareness to important social topics.
Reading, PA (09/20/2022) — Opening with a keynote by Patrice Rankine, Ph.D. (on the evening of Oct. 6) Albright College will host its fourth Empowering Albright Voices day on Oct. 7 - a full day of panels and activities that bring awareness to important social topics. The following Empowering Albright Voices events are free and open to the public:
KEYNOTE: Patchwork Epiphanies: envisioning shared meaning across difference
Oct. 6, 7 p.m., Albright Theatre
Patrice Rankine, Ph.D., University of Chicago will kick off Albright's fall 2022 Empowering Albright Voices day with a discussion on tensions and challenges in building shared meaning within a diverse society, drawing from playwrights, poets and artists to illustrate how we might find resources to build shared meaning.

Two separate panels of Albright trustees will share their personal stories and hopes for the 166-year old institution.
Interdisciplinary perspectives on the recent Roe vs. Wade decision

Panelists will share legal, spiritual, medical and psychological perspectives of the impact of the recent U.S. Supreme Court abortion rights decision.

Within the Arctic circle, the Inupiat have thrived for thousands of years. Josh Williamson, M.D., will share his recent eye-opening medical experiences from working this underserved community.
Global intersections of fashion

This fashion runway show presents an international collection reflecting cultures, customs and music.
A living history of empowerment from the voices of Albright Black alumni
Oct. 7, 7 p.m., Virtual, Klein Hall
Alumni spanning seven decades will share how Black students experienced and actively pursued empowerment on Albright's campus, and how their experiences were influenced by national movements and contemporary culture.
