Justine Smith Spends Winter Break Engaged in Research, Creative Endeavors

2015 Jan 12

Justine Smith, a junior history/religious studies major from Fleetwood, is spending winter Interim tackling an Albright Creative Research Experience (ACRE) project titled "Performing Identity: Brighton Beach Memoirs."

ACRE is a multi-disciplinary program that affords undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct research or pursue creative endeavors during the summer break or the three-week January Interim before the start of the spring semester. Students work alongside faculty mentors.

This winter, 22 students are participating in ACREs, researching topics ranging from methods for teaching English to non-native speakers, to personality expressions in Facebook status updates, to a campus energy assessment.

Many collaborative teams of students and faculty present their research at academic conferences and publish their results in professional journals.
