Justine Smith of Fleetwood Spends Summer Engaged in Research, Creative Endeavors

2014 Jun 5

Justine Smith, a sophomore history/religious studies major from Fleetwood, PA, is spending the summer tackling an Albright Creative Research Experience (ACRE) project. Smith's project is "Reading Theater History Project." Her adviser is associate professor of history Gerald Ronning, Ph.D.

ACRE is a multi-disciplinary program that affords undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct research or pursue creative endeavors during the summer break or the three-week January Interim. Students work alongside faculty mentors. This summer, 19 Albright students are participating in ACREs, working in such fields as biology, psychology, history and theatre. Topics range from drama therapy to 3D printing to the effects of white nose syndrome on bats.

Many collaborative teams of students and faculty present their research at academic conferences and publish their results in professional journals.
