"DEI: From Acronyms to Action" at Albright College

by Carey Manzolillo

Reading, PA (01/19/2023) — Marlon Gibson, Ph.D. will present "DEI: from acronyms to action" in Albright College's Memorial Chapel, Monday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Free and open to the public, the event will focus on taking action to create a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment.

Audience members will explore pressing topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion, consider how these issues impact the college campus and community, and commit to taking purposeful actions to develop a better culture.

As Director of Community Engagement for Kappa Alpha, Gibson conducts regional and national diversity trainings to increase awareness and foster an inclusive environment committed to strengthening civility, cultural competency and racial sensitivity.

The last several years have ushered a mass of students onto college campuses who are historically more inclusive because of their lived experiences. These students display a greater desire to acknowledge, discuss, understand and reconcile past perceptions of generational flaws and a yearning for equity in today's practices.

Gibson will discuss how to move from knowledge of a better culture to truly creating diversity, equity and inclusion.

Named a top national college by Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education, Albright College (founded 1856) is home to a diverse community of learners who cultivate integrity, curiosity, connection and resilience.
