Albright College Earns Dual Honors from Washington Monthly

by Carey Manzolillo

Reading, PA (09/14/2022) — Washington Monthly has again named Albright College a Best Liberal Arts College, as well as a Best Bang for the Buck in the Northeast. Albright is one of only 203 institutions appearing on the magazine's Best Liberal Arts Colleges list.

Based in Washington, D.C., Washington Monthly is a bimonthly nonprofit magazine on U.S. politics and government. Its college rankings are based on social mobility, research and providing opportunities for public service. Specifically for the America's Best Bang for the Buck Colleges, Washington Monthly rates schools according to "how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices."

Recognizing that almost half of Albright students are the first in their family to attend college and a significant number are Pell recipients, the college continues to advance offerings in support of students who face academic and social challenges. Proactive student-centered infrastructure, like the Lifting up Lions initiative, combined with team advising initiatives like Lions' Edge, and faculty development programs aim to strengthen teaching, learning and innovation at the college.

Repeatedly recognized for social mobility, Albright was named a top 14 National Liberal Arts College Performer on Social Mobility by the U.S. News and World Report, earlier this month. And a 2019 Georgetown study using College Scorecard data showed that long term earnings for Albright graduates far outpace median earnings of all private, public and for-profit institutions across the country.

Named a top national college by Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education, Albright College (founded 1856) is home to a diverse community of learners who cultivate integrity, curiosity, connection and resilience. Through learning experiences that engage a student's creative and innovative capacities across all disciplines, both inside and outside of the classroom, an Albright College education guarantees that each student learns how to engage the world, understand the world, and is prepared to make an impact on a rapidly changing world. Located in Reading, Pa., Albright is home to undergraduate students, adult learners and graduate students.
