Albright College Students Benefit from Stabler Foundation Grant Increase

Reading, PA (01/25/2023) — The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation has added $134,000 to augment its existing endowed Albright College scholarship funds, in support of the college's sophomore, junior and senior students with financial need, who have demonstrated a commitment to leadership and service.

To date, 220 Albright students have received funding through the Stabler Fund. Originally endowed by a $1 million grant in 2010, the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler fund was augmented with additional gifts of $400,000 in 2012, $200,000 in 2020 and 2021, and $340,000 in 2022. The fund provides multi-year scholarships to Albright students, as they rise through their academic careers.

Albright students are driven to implement innovative ideas, often to solve societal challenges. Therefore, as the oldest institution of higher learning in Reading, Pennsylvania, Albright College is invested in making its rigorous education available to creative innovators across all demographics.

As tuition rises, need-based federal grant aid usually does not change for sophomore, junior and senior students, often creating unanticipated bills that make it difficult for these students to complete their college education. Recognizing this trend, Albright has expanded its efforts to garner philanthropic support and to build an endowment dedicated to need-based scholarships and aid for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors.

The Stabler Fund's impact is demonstrated by a 19% higher graduation rate for Stabler Fund recipients compared to the general student population.
