Unpack Symbols of the Capitol Insurrection via Albright College

Reading, PA (03/29/2021) — Albright College will host a virtual lecture on "Symbols of the Insurrection," Thur., April 15, 4-5:30 p.m., on Zoom. Pre-register here.

Armed Americans carried many different flags, blared on horns and wore distinct insignia as they stormed the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6. Maite Barragan, Ph. D., assistant professor of art history, and Jennifer Koosed, Ph. D., professor of religious studies, will analyze and unpack the meanings of the day's many symbols.

Barragan's areas of research include modern periodical culture, propaganda and protest art. She earned a combined bachelor's and master's degree from Compultense University of Madrid and a completed a doctorate at Temple University.

Koosed's areas of expertise include gender and sexuality, literary theory and Bible and popular culture. She holds a diploma in Jewish studies from Oxford University, a Master of Theological Studies degree and a doctorate from Vanderbilt University.
