Albright College student-artists have been selected for awards for their artwork in the competitive 2024 Annual Juried Student Exhibition.

Albright College senior, Ben Galosi will spend a full semester at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's award-winning National Theater Institute, next fall. Known as the launchpad of American theater, the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center is dedicated to nurturing new work and new artists. Its competitive, semester-long immersive residencies in Waterford, Connecticut allow students to work with master teachers to create theater.

For nine weeks this summer, Albright College Daniel Reyes will attend and perform at the Austrian American Mozart Academy (AAMA) in Salzburg, Austria. The AAMA Opera Summer Program is designed for singers who strive to acquire specialization in the performance of the German Lieder and Operas of W.A. Mozart.

Albright's Domino Players and Theatre Department present "Urinetown: The Musical," written by Greg Kotis and directed by Ben Galosi '25, April 18-21, 2024. Satirizing capitalism, corporate politics, and the illustrious world of musical theatre, "Urinetown: The Musical" envisions a world where people have to pay to pee.

Directed by Derrick Thompson, Ed.D., and accompanied by Jeffrey Lentz and Karen Eddinger on piano, the Albright College "African American Tradition & Beyond" choral concert was peformed March 2 as part of the spring 2024 musical season.

Led by Albright Associate Professor of Theatre, Julia Matthews and Technical Director/Master Electrician, Donald Quilinquin, ten Albright College students travelled to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Region II Festival in Pittsburgh, Pa., this January, to participate in dozens of workshops, keynote speeches, invited productions, and theatre design, technology and management competitions.

Twenty Albright students performed in the college's improvisational theatre show, Friday, Nov. 17. Led by theatre professor Matt Fotis, Ph.D., Albright Improv includes an open-access, low pressure group and an audition-based team that participates in on- and off-campus improv festivals.

Albright's Domino Players and Theatre Department present "The Revolutionists," written by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Matt Fotis, Feb. 22-25, 2024. Four beautiful, renegade women lose their heads in the woman-empowered comedy, set during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror.

Albright's Domino Players and Theatre Department present "As You Like It," written by William Shakespeare, directed by Julia Matthews, Ph.D., Nov. 16-19, 2023. "All the world's a stage" and all society's rules of conformity are off in this exuberant theatrical journey into one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies.

The Albright College Domino Players and Theatre Department presented "Song and Story" - a devised theatre piece created by the ensemble and directed by Jeffrey Lentz, fall 2023. The curated narrative was built around original works to showcase artists all across Albright's campus and to bring together all areas of the arts onto one stage in artistry and collaboration.

Directed by Derrick Thompson, Ed.D., and accompanied by Jeffrey Lentz and Karen Eddinger on piano, the Albright College Masterworks choral concert was peformed Oct. 7 as part of the fall 2023 musical season.

Sixteen Albright students performed in the college's "Monologues and Lectures" improvisational theatre show, Friday, Sept. 19. Led by theatre professor Matt Fotis, Ph.D., Albright Improv includes an open-access, low pressure group and an audition-based team that participates in on- and off-campus improv festivals.

Albright senior theatre and arts administration major Alainna Welty will spend her final semester at the National Theater Institute, in Waterford, Connecticut this fall. The immersive residency is a seven-days-a-week program, during which students work with master teachers to create theater.

Thirty three Albright College students presented original artwork at the Freedman Gallery's annual juried student exhibit, this May. Several artists earned prizes and awards, given in different categories during a special reception, May 4.

Directed by Derrick Thompson, Ed.D., and accompanied by Jeffrey Lentz and Karen Eddinger on piano, "Forever Music, a choral concert" will be peformed May 6 as part of the spring 2023 musical season.

Directed by Jeffrey Lentz, Albright's Domino Players and Theatre Department present "Spring Awakening," - book and lyrics by Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik, and based on the play by Frank Wedekind.

Directed by Derrick Thompson, Ed.D., and accompanied by Jeffrey Lentz and Karen Eddinger on piano, "Celebrating Female Composers" is the first Albright College choral concert of the spring 2023 season.

Albright's Domino Players and Theatre Department present "Orlando," written by Sarah Ruhl, adapted from Virginia Woolf, directed by Andrea Hart.

Directed by Derrick Thompson, Ed.D., and accompanied by Jeffrey Lentz and Karen Eddinger on piano, the Carols by Candlelight choral concert is the last Albright College choral concert of the fall 2022 season.

Four Albright College students brought art to the Greater Reading community by helping to create and install murals at Berks Nature and Kimberton Whole Foods in Wyomissing. A collaborative installation featuring the students' silkscreen printing is also on display in the college's Freedman Gallery.

Directed by Mark Lomanno Ph.D., Albright College Jazz Combos are small student ensembles that study and perform in the Black American music tradition of jazz. The ensemble's curriculum is a mix of applied instruction, history, theory and improvisation skills, while live performances feature a repertoire chosen from the entire history of jazz music - in the United States and throughout the world. The Jazz Combos are an integral part of Albright's African American music minor and the rebirth of the college's Africana studies program.

Written by Moliere, adapted by Richard Wilbur and directed by Julia Matthews, "Tartuffe" is performed by Albright College's national award-winning theatre program, fall 2022.

Arranged by the college's gospel ensemble, a Nov. 6 Sunday worship gospel concert will be directed by Derrick L. Thompson, Ed.D. and is free and open to the public.

Directed by Derrick Thompson and accompanied by Jeffrey Lentz and Karen Eddinger on piano, the Sounds of Nature choral concert is the first musical performance of the 2022-23 season.

Continuing the Domino Players' tradition of premiering original work, this company-created piece explores the many faces of "home," and investigates the different ways we construct, inhabit and engage with our families, our communities, our country, the places we call home and our shared digital worlds. "The Big House" opens Thursday, Sept. 29.

Released January 2022, Albright College first year students, Maya Burdick '25 (theatre major) and Ben Galosi '25 (theatre/arts administration major) have been recognized by BroadwayWorld for theatre performances at the nearby Ephrata Performing Arts Center.
